Flare Blossom, 2023
Brief: Flare Blossom is a piece of face jewellery that takes a digital approach to traditional crafts and culture. The design depicted our mission, demonstrating progression from traditional to modern without diminishing culture and values.
Inspiration: The velvet flower, a hairpin ornament symbolising eternal life and prosperity, was the foundation for our design. We aimed to convey these positive sentiments digitally and interactively. By incorporating light, or 'flare', we enhanced the vibrancy and richness of our creation and the world around us.
Impact: Flare Blossom was featured at the pioneering Second Life Exhibition - China's first virtual jewellery exhibition. Accessible via the official website, the audience could engage with webAR technology. The exhibition premiered at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and was toured in major cities in China, such as Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. It was also showcased at London Fashion Week in collaboration with ArtSect Gallery and at NFT.NYC with Future+ at Samsung 837 in New York. Additionally, it was featured at Metaverse Fashion Week alongside Red Eye Magazine and Mad Global on Spatial.
